When you’re building your closet on a budget, it may feel like a quality designer bag is far out of reach. But it really comes down to strategy and understanding that this bag will be an item of value in your closet, in more ways than one. From an early age, I always knew how to find a good bag for a steal. I would buy on-sale or pre-owned bags and then re-sell them once I was ready to invest in a new one. There are so many ways to find a good bag for a great deal; from Poshmark, to Nordstrom Rack and of course, The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale — which coincidently kicks off to the public the day after my birthday (hip hop hooray for me)!

Before the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale, I already had my eye set on my next go-to handbag: the Kate Spade Marybeth leather tote with removable laptop sleeve. Whenever a major annual sale is approaching, the first thing I look for is a good bag to invest in. While I can appreciate a good pair of shoes like every woman, nothing tops an amazing bag in my book. I set my standards high and my budget low: I would much rather save my change for one great bag that’ll carry me through the season than spend money on temporary pieces for my closet.
