Leather Jacket Guide
One of my favorite staple pieces is the leather jacket. I can’t think of another outwear piece that is timeless and can transition seamlessly from edgy to elegant and everything else in between. Purchasing a quality leather jacket is an investment and something you will wear for years.
You can find them in genuine or faux leather and in every style. Though personal style has no rule, be sure that what you buy flatters your body!
If worn properly, it can also hide those not-so-favorable imperfections. Here is my guideline on how to find the perfect leather jacket for fit your personal style. Happy shopping!
The Classic Leather Jacket
The classic silhouette of a leather jacket is a simple but polish design that is a very flattering style that accentuates curves. Though simple in its design, this classic leather jacket has stitching details and sleeve accents inspire a more expensive appearance. Before ordering, take a peek at the size chart to make sure you are purchasing the correct size since the style is fitted at the waist.
The Bomber Style Jacket
The bomber style is known for its round, collarless neckline, similar in style to a baseball or high school letterman jacket. It has a leather waist that allows for a snug fit. I love the bomber jacket because it is a staple for both men and women alike. It has been a favorite of Kanye West but you can also see Gigi Hadid rocking it. Dress it up with leggings and a pair of cute booties or glam it with leather leggings and stilettos. Shake things up with a little rock and roll edge; switch out the leggings with distressed jeans and combat boots. The bomber style’s versatility is the reason why this style is an essential piece to have in your closet.
The Moto Jacket
Think Michael Jackson and his red moto jacket with rolled up sleeves. The Moto jacket aka the motorcycle jacket is known for its belt straps, high waist cut and accessorized with zippers. It may have begun as an actual motorcycle jacket but the runway has given it a fresh twist. Pairing it with another leather piece, such as leggings or a pencil skirt gives the outfit a more refined look. Pair it up with a white collared shirt and jeans for a relaxed, casual look. You can also zip the moto jacket up to wear as a top!
The Asymmetrical Leather Jacket
This cut is my absolute favorite style of leather jackets! Needless to say, there are countless variations of this style because there are no rules! It’s a stylish, chaotic piece that can have zippered slash pockets, asymmetrical cut and zipper, boat neck collar…the list is endless. I love dressing it up with my Kendall & Kylie strapped stilettos with a dark wash super skinny jean!
The Aviator Leather Jacket
This is the unmistakable Top Gun like aviator leather jacket inspired from the A-2 military version. Though there are many different collar cuts, I prefer the warm, soft traditional lining.
